Greetings Folks,
Here are my thoughts on the Solar and Lunar Eclipses for July of 2019.
As you may be aware, we are in the midst of eclipse season. We had a Solar Eclipse on July 2 at 10 degrees of Cancer and on July 16, we will have a Lunar Eclipse at 24 degrees of Capricorn.
Solar Eclipses always occur on a new moon, however not all new moons are eclipses. And Solar Eclipses are followed by a Lunar Eclipse two weeks later. Lunar eclipses occur on a full moon, but not all full moons are lunar eclipses. From an astrological standpoint, it matters not if the eclipses are visible from your location. What does matter, is the place in the zodiac at which they occur. In this case, if you have natal planets within a couple of degrees of either of these eclipses, you will likely feel an impact. (If you’re not familiar with the specific planetary placements in your chart, your friendly astrologer can advise you.)
The significance of an eclipse is not necessarily felt immediately. Its impact can occur within the coming couple of weeks to a year or two. When planets by transit make a significant aspect to these eclipse degrees months down the road, one can expect an impact.
Since a Solar Eclipse involves the moon moving over the face of the sun and the light of the sun briefly disappearing, this is symbolic of something ending, preparing the way for new doors to open. It can imply that where there was darkness, something new is coming to light.
Cancer represents home, nurturing, family, our heritage, our connection to our roots. Therefore, what we define as our sense of belonging, is apt to undergo a shift of sorts. Only by noting the house placement in which this eclipse occurs in your own chart, are we able to pinpoint what avenues of your life are likely to be impacted.
Please DO NOT ASSUME that this implies that everyone’s family life will undergo a shift. Other than our biological families, we can certainly have other “families” of significance to us, such as our family of friends, our family of co-workers, the family of our partnerships or other families with which we may have connections, be they near or far.
This can be a welcome transition, allowing that which has served its purpose to be released, paving the way for new growth to unfold. After all, nature abhors a vacuum, and this is one way in which the cosmos reflects cycles that lend themselves to new horizons.
Immediately following this month’s Solar Eclipse, we were witness to a series of earthquakes in California. It’s not unusual for earthly disturbances to occur shortly after such an eclipse. Hitting our homeland is significant, in that the country’s birth date is two days after this month’s Solar Eclipse, so there’s no question that we’ve already seen a reflection of the eclipse within the US borders.
The Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn brings to light the concept of where we find or define our home in the outer world, such as within our career or in our status in the world around us. We may see our sense of authority undergo shifts as we redefine our external roles. Our involvement in business or other larger superstructures such as government, may appropriately undergo changes as the ripple effect of these cycles manifests.
As is often the case, the next series of eclipses will involve the same zodiacal signs. The next Solar Eclipse takes place in Capricorn on 12/25 or 12/26, depending on your time zone, with the next Lunar Eclipse taking place in Cancer on January 10, 2020. As it happens, here in the US we will be gearing up for the presidential primary races, once again heightening our awareness of our place in the outer world of government and its impact on our inner world of our homes and families.
In the long run, this current eclipse cycle may have implications on how the government, represented by Capricorn, deals with the housing and care of illegal immigrants as well as the issue of family separation. Housing, feeding and families are all Cancer related issues. This is just one of many potential implications of this cycle.
It is my hope that whatever doors open or close for you and yours, that they bring peace of mind and fulfillment of heart.
All the best to you and yours as these cycles manifest.
