Greetings Folks,

Before you moan and groan about the fact that the winged messenger is about to reverse his tracks yet again, it’s worth noting that information is power and forewarned is forearmed. Can a retrograde Mercury sometimes feel like a pain in our backsides? Sure! It is fatal? NO! Does it help to know that this is a good time to stay on your toes and look before you take a mental leap? Hopefully so.

Let’s get a handle on the benefits of this cycle. As you may know by now, this is a fitting time to go back and re-do, rethink and reflect. More specifically, the first part of this cycle when Mercury is gracing the sign of the Lion, is appropriate for reflecting on those times in which you knew you were the king of the mountain. How did it feel? Who was in the audience cheering you on? Think back to the way you felt, knowing you were being recognized for a significant accomplishment. Recall those moments when you felt a strong sense of pride, be it for yourself or for those who accomplished major feats. Allow these remembrances to be the mental fuel that motivates you in the present. As you do so, imagine how fulfilling it is to share this inspiration to those near and dear to you.

A good analogy is to reflect upon the last performance you witnessed. It could have been a play, a movie, a musical performance or perhaps a speech. Recapture the sentiment that motivated you to leap to your feet and offer up a resounding round of applause. It is instinctive to express that heartfelt joy and appreciation for how you were moved.

Now is the time to recapture those thoughts and sentiments and play them back in the present. Did someone do something worthy and deserving of such applause and recognition? Perhaps the event went by the wayside without due recognition. It’s never too late to let someone know what a difference they made and are still making in your life. Show your admiration, your respect and your appreciation. It need not be anything fancy. It’s the expression from the heart that matters!

As we move into part two of this phase, the mood undergoes a transition. Now that Cancer hosts Mercury, our thoughts turn to our roots, our heritage, our upbringing. What a fine time to learn about family history, to mentally or physically return to old stomping grounds. If you feel the urge to sift through memorabilia such as scrap books or photo albums, give yourself credit for being in tune with the cosmic flow! Perhaps it’s timely to keep bring these memories back to the present. Make them part of your current domestic landscape as you honor those people and events that have contributed to who you are today.

So, where’s the bad news, you ask? During part one of this cycle, pay close attention to the temptation to make everything about you and the gratification of your ego. Keep in mind the phrase “enough about me, what about you?” If you find yourself on that slippery slope of self-aggrandizement, stop yourself in your tracks and know that you are enough. Knowing you’ve acted with authenticity and sincerity is reason to be proud. Be humble. That’s all the world needs to see.

During part two of this cycle, make a clear distinction between the past and present. Of course, our past shapes and molds us. Yet, in no way does it define who we are in the present. Ponder ways of honoring your past by reshaping the present. And take time to learn about the history of those around you. Understanding someone’s past gives us an appreciation for how they came to be where they are today.

About July 4 - 10:

Mercury and Uranus will be in a challenging angle to one another during this time. In fact, Uranus is considered the higher octave or higher expression of Mercury. It is associated with technology, innovation, the unexpected and that which is completely out of our control. Unfortunately, this stressful configuration will be in play over the Independence Day holidays. So, if you have plans to travel, have a backup plan in place. Expect last minute changes to be the norm and have a game plan in place should such things as power outages and lost digital connections arise. Look at this as an opportunity to improvise and take note of the people with whom you interact. The universe may just put you in the right place at the right time to meet people you otherwise would never have encountered, had it not been for this temporary shift in plans.

All the best!
